Happy Sunday Croissants!
Thanks for sending me poems last week! I loved checking ‘em out. I have failed to eat any croissants lately but have eaten two cinnamon rolls, the first from Auntie Annie at a gas station, which, as always, smells amazing and tastes only OK. The second was from 8th and Roast in Nashville and it SLAPPED.
Some of you may remember the story of my going to visit Comanche the Horse in Lawrence, Kansas while on tour with Pony Bradshaw. This past week Western AF released a live video of the related song, Equine Elvis, featuring our beloved Steve Haan, and throwback bandmate Cy Winstanley.
Here it is:
Work continues on the new art hoe house! The kitchen is finally done… thanks to my amazing siblings who came into town to help us on moving weekend. My sister tiled the kitchen with me while my brother and George moved EVERYTHING…honestly it was a great deal for me. House project = infinitely more fun than moving.
Here’s the finished kitchen before we moved all our stuff in (still missing cabinet hardware and stained floorboards, oops!).
And a little more moved into:
Here is my sister laying the very last piece of tile, that Herringbone pattern was a beast!
Just a reminder that the kitchen started out looking like THIS HAHAHA
Thanks to all of you for following along on this DIY journey… this kitchen was my most ambitious project to date, but so worth it (now that it’s done).
As for other Art Hoe exploits, I’m in a short stories phase, and have been listening to the audiobook of Dubliners by James Joyce, read by the one and only Andrew Scott. The Irish accent, well specifically Andrew Scott’s irish accent makes all the difference… who doesn’t want to be read to by the sexy priest from Fleabag?
Also, George and I finished the second season of Silo, which I didn’t realize was out. I LOVE SILO. We have now started Severence, and it’s interesting, but all I can think about is how much I miss the Silo. I’m such a sucker for a steampunk aesthetic. Dystopian office imagery hurts my soul (I know that’s the point but still it’s hard to stare at for that long). I need to remember this for halloween:
Hope everyone is eating lots of pastries!
